Future proofing your organisation

Developing a holistic wellbeing environment in the workplace can be challenging, with numerous factors to consider. Mental, physical, and emotional health—along with social elements such as work relationships, family life, and even global concerns—are daily challenges that employees face. Unsurprisingly, these pressures have contributed to sick leave reaching ten-year highs.

One crucial yet often overlooked contributor to better wellbeing is nutrition. Nutrition provides the essential building blocks for health—something every individual depends on. What you eat has a profound impact on your health, and everyone has to eat.

Nutrition is the foundation for how both the body and brain perform. By improving food choices, individuals can unlock their full potential—benefiting themselves and their organisation to significantly improving performance outcomes.

At Brighter Being, we implement science-backed workplace initiatives that protect organisations from disease, absenteeism, and performance decline—empowering employees and businesses to thrive for decades to come.

Did you know?

Poor health is costing you more than ever.

Sick leave is at a ten-year high, with an average of 7.8 days lost per employee per year. People above a healthy body weight are up to 147% more likely to take time off work. The cost of employee sickness reached £103 billion in 2023 — a £30 billion increase since 2018

Lifestyle-related diseases are on the rise.

Diet and lifestyle now contribute significantly to rising rates of cancer in under-50s. Alzheimer's cases among 30–64 year olds increased by 200% between 2013 and 2017. Premature deaths from cardiovascular disease are the highest they've been in over a decade.

But there’s good news—change matters.

Adopting a healthier lifestyle from age 20 can increase life expectancy by 11 years for women and 13 years for men. Even starting at age 60 adds 8–9 more years of life.

Wellbeing boosts businesses

A recent study led by Jan-Emmanuel De Neve, Oxford economics professor, found a “strong positive relationship between employee well-being and the firm’s performance.” His research simulated a portfolio of the top 100 publicly listed US companies ranked highest for employee well-being, which outperformed the S&P 500, which is the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the US,  by 11%. De Neve research concluded that “higher levels of well-being generally predict higher firm valuations, higher return on assets, higher gross profits, and better stock market performance”.
